Beauty is the most honest discipline in portrait photography. Close-up, controlled light, nowhere to hide. What remains is the person.
Flawless without turning artificial — that's the line. The skin texture stays, the eyes stay, the person stays. That's why in this area I work exclusively with experienced make-up artists: at close range the camera sees every detail, and the make-up has to work at that resolution, not just in the mirror.
With beauty portraits, light is already half the image. Soft and broad for an open, clean look — harder and more directional when the image needs an edge. We settle the mood, look and styling together beforehand, and I build the light around it.
Standing in front of a camera is best learned by doing it. I guide you through the shoot: pose, gaze, breathing. All you need to bring is a willingness to look at yourself.
The retouching I then do myself — and stop precisely where the image would begin to leave the person behind. In the end you get images you're glad to show and still recognise yourself in. Do you have a concrete idea, an example image in mind — or simply the urge to try it? Tell me about it.
How it works
- 01A conversation beforehand about mood, look and styling.
- 02In the studio: make-up, light, shooting. Usually 2–4 hours.
- 03We choose the images together, then comes the retouching.
- 04You receive the final images in high resolution, in print and web format.
