Topic workshops are organised shoots around an idea we've set in advance — a lighting technique, a particular look, a particular mood. Location, model(s) and make-up artist are arranged, the setup is in place. You bring the time and the appetite for shooting.
On the workshop day we go through how it will run, the shooting area agreed with the model, and the technical points relevant to the theme. After that you have plenty of time to photograph the setup yourself — with tips from me, to the extent you want them.
The group is kept deliberately small, so that everyone actually gets to shoot — no “shooting along” from the second row. All you need to bring is your camera; everything else is organised.
You'll find the themes so far below — new ones are added all the time. Have one in mind yourself? Write to me.
Themes so far
- LED stick light — creative light painting with movable LED strands.
- Shadow play with the optical spot — highly directional light, sharp shadow shapes.
- Hard light — direct, undiffused light and what it does to an image.
- Gold workshop — gold as a theme running throughout: styling, light, imagery.
Who can take part
- Photographers of every level.
- Newcomers benefit from the prepared structure and the technical explanations.
- More experienced photographers concentrate on the image and explore the theme deliberately.
- New themes are added all the time. Have one in mind? Write to me.
